BOSSIER CITY — In their opening preseason game, New Orleans Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry saw signs that his team can rely on their versatile guards, especially when star forward Anthony Davis is on the bench resting.
Pelicans guard E’Twaun Moore, Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway and Tim Frazier had little trouble making their impact by taking advantage of Gentry’s free-flowing offense that centers on attacking early in the shot clock and beating teams in transition.
They all took turns at breaking down the Mavericks’ defense from either attacking from the 3-point line or driving to the basket that led to a 116-102 victory on Saturday night at the CenturyLink Center.
Moore and Hield both scored 19 points to lead the Pelicans. Galloway had 11 and Frazier came off the bench for 10. The Pelicans had 29 assists on 47 made shots. They closed out the game shooting at 57.3 percent and made 12 of 21 3-pointers.
